Components of mattresses may be recyclable, but they are difficult to deconstruct at home.*

Mattresses may be accepted by retailers for recycling when purchasing new ones.

You may wish to try selling your mattress on Craig’s List or a Facebook sale page, or give it away on a Freecycle site.

Most local resale shops (Goodwill, etc.) do not accept used mattresses, however, you might want to contact such agencies as Carpenter’s Place in Rockford for current needs.

Locally, many garbage haulers will accept mattresses as bulk items. Contact your trash company for details.
