1CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING JANUARY 1 - 15 ONLY! 22nd Annual Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful Christmas Tree Recyling Program. Turn in your old Christmas Tree and let us convert it into pine mulch which is then available (first come first served) for you to use in your home gardening. LOOK UNDER PROGRAMS/CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING for locations of 13 drop-off sites in Winnebago County.

8EARTH DAY AWARDS LUNCHEON -- Featured speaker for the 2010 Earth Day Awards Luncheon will be annoumnced immediately following the completion of contracts. Luncheon at Giovanni's on Bell School Road will begin promptly at 11:30AM and conclude by 1:00 PM. Individual tickets are available at $50 each with Corporate Tables of 10 seats for $500. Send check to KEEP NORTHERN ILLINOIS BEAUTIFUL, 5417 NORTH SECOND STREET, LOVES PARK, IL 61111. Deadline for reservations is April 2. Accepting useable clothing; mens, womens and childrens: including belts, shoes, purses and other leather goods. PLEASE PLACE ARTICLES IN PLASTIC GARBAGE BAGS - NO BOXES OR HANGERS! To volunteer call Lisa at (815) 637-1343 for shifts, times and locations available.
1SPRING METALS & ELECTRONICS DRIVE Machesney Park Mall South Parking Lot 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM -- Accepting all metals for recycling including steel, copper, brass, aluminum, etc. A $10 charge applies to the following items: Refrigerators, Freezers, Dehumidifiers, Propane Tanks, Computer Monitors, Air Conditioners, fire extinguishers. Volunters welcomed - call (815) 637-1343 for scheduling. Not accepting TV's.

1June 1 - 15: CRAYON RECYCLING DRIVE Accepting used crayons at our office 5417 N. 2nd St., Loves Park, or at the Recycling Center in Roscoe (See Recycling Center under Programs for more details and a map).
12UNUSED MEDICATION COLLECTION - Accepting unused, outdated, unusuable medications including veterinarian meds. Machesney Park Mall from 9AM to 2PM. Please bring meds in their original bottles so the pharmacists know how to dispose of them properly. You may remove or mark out personal information. No needles or other sharps accepted. Please check out our website under Recycling/Medication Disposal for additional information. KEEP YOUR MEDS SAFE AND OUT OF THE GROUND WATER. No charge for disposal.
